Messages beta for Mac
New app that will replace iChat when OS X Mountain Lion comes out this summer, but you can install the beta right now. Now you can send iMessages from the Mac!
That’s right, both an announcement for the next OS X iteration and an iMessages for Mac beta to play with.
Above are the apps I use on a daily basis and therefore get to keep a place on my dock.
They are:
- Finder
- Sparrow - A gmail focused email app with a slick interface
- Chrome - my primary browser
- Firefox - my goto browser when I really want to dive into something with Firebug
- Coda - my preferred IDE for coding
- Photoshop - I keep this close in case I want to photoshop coworker’s heads onto other people’s bodies. Or to work.
- iOS Simulator - Helpful if you’re testing something on an iOS device.
- Twitter - I usually keep this running in the background and on auto-scroll mode so that it’s always showing the new stuff. When I take a minute to peek in on it, I’ll always see what’s happening now.
- Adium - I use this for Google Talk, AIM and IRC chatting
- Spotify - My background music machine. I rotate between this and HypeMachine depending on what I’m looking to listen to and whether I want to discover something new.
- Developer Folder - Has a few apps I use for development of various things on a not-as-frequent basis.
- Applications Folder - Quick access to the apps I don’t use as often.
- Downloads Folder - Chrome’s defaulted to save here, so it’s easy to pop in and check those things out.
I’m always curious if I’m totally missing out on a great app. What’s in your dock? Or, what are your favorite apps?
I'm Mike (or mcdavis).
