The iHome is a social-media enabled alarm clock that hooks up to your iPhone/iPod and tweets your wake-up and snooze times across the internet.

Welcome to the future.

…in the same way the smell-o-vision was the future in 1962. Just because you can invent a way for people to broadcast their wake up and snooze times doesn’t mean they want to do it.
Bubble 1.0 burst in part because of lack of demand for many of the brilliant new consumer offerings that investors were so happy to fund; let’s all hope that the tweet-your-snooze alarm clock becomes a symbol of naive Web 2.0/social media industry excess.

iHome has been around for awhile creating lots of different iPod and now iPhone devices (I’ve bought a few of their alarm clocks over the years).  It may seem like an excessive device here, but it’s fully possible they’re bankrolling it off their previous profits versus spending investor cash.
That said, the cash may not be that much of waste as the Wi-Fi scale that tweets your weight is pretty popular.
