37signals describes how they redesigned their “blank slate” pages to be more straight-forward and easier to use.
One thing I picked up from “Getting Real” - “Blank state” pages are something most designers and developers forget to put real time into but are often some of the most important parts. Especially considering they’re the first thing a user sees when they join the site.
